As the lead agency addressing homelessness in San Antonio and Bexar County, we work tirelessly to support veterans, families, and anyone currently experiencing homelessness. Together, we can expand our reach and ensure every neighbor has the resources they need to thrive—today and for future generations. Did you know that? Locally, children represent the largest single age group experiencing homelessness. Locally, roughly 33% of individuals said they were actively fleeing domestic violence, which led to their homelessness. Locally, people experiencing homelessness often have urgent healthcare needs, and 38% don’t have access to medical insurance. Locally, 26% of individuals experiencing homelessness reported a physical or developmental disability. Locally, 32% reported having a mental illness of some kind. Nationally, 1 in 5 people experiencing homelessness is an older adult — and that number is projected to triple by 2030. Locally, on the night of the 2025 Point-in-Time Count, 641 additional shelter beds were needed to house all our unsheltered neighbors. Locally, permanent supportive housing has a 96% success rate of maintaining housing. Locally, 18% reported substance use. Locally, 41% of individuals with a history of Foster Care stated they did not have a stable place to live when they aged out of the system.
